I had to remove the broad leaf Ludwigia as it was dieing off and I’m not sure why. The algae I am fighting seemed to favor the leaves even with a limited light schedule and this was before I added CO2. I have since added Blyxa and a more narrow leaf Ludwigia and both seem to be doing better. I have a problem with trumpet snails uprooting the Blyxa so getting them established is being an issue. Once the tank fully cycled, I slowly added CPD and RCS to the tank, a few at a time.
The tanked looked a little plain and had a long way to go with the cycle so I purchased a Stingray led light made by Finnex from Amazon and a few plants from Aqua Zoo in Webster, TX.
It was an impulse buy and I had an empty tank and also maybe a 55 gallon too because why just one? They both sat there while I purchased rocks and driftwood for the 55 gallon but as that was going to be the “expensive” tank maybe I could start this “cheap” small one.
Yes there are dirty dishes in the sink behind my tank, chores were paused so that I could put sand, rocks and driftwood into this tank. Heck, I had to run to Petco to get the “hang on the back” filter and I didn’t even have a light.
